EYEWEAR

We strongly believe choosing your glasses should be more fun than frustration!

Our expert stylists are here to guide you in your pursuit for ideal frames.  And, there are many factors to consider, including your style, personality, face shape, features, and Rx.  We have a frame for every face.

Suffering from a significant amount of nearsightedness (-12.00 with astigmatism, for reference), Dr. Page himself has worn glasses since the age of five.  (As a batter in tee-ball, he kept missing the ball atop the tee!  Poor five-year-old Marcus.)  He has worn all types of frames, lenses, materials, and coatings throughout his life.  Drawing from his experience and knowledge, Dr. Page is able to provide exceptional expertise regarding all aspects of eyeglasses.  While most optometrists focus solely on eye care, our top-notch doctor is well-rounded in eyecare AND eyewear.

We provide Contact Lens Evaluations and training classes for soft contacts, as well as rigid gas permeable or “hard” contacts.  Dr. Page is a preferred provider for several top-tier contact lenses, including daily disposables, biweekly, and monthly modalities.

EYE DISEASE

From Dry Eye Disease to Age-related Macular Degeneration, Dr. Page diagnoses, treats, and manages a range of eye diseases.  We are one of the few offices in Texas that carry the latest in retinal imaging technology.  The DRS Plus differs from other traditional retinal screening devices due to the incredibly high resolution retinal, macular, and optic nerve images it provides in true color.  The doctor can zoom in to view fine details of your retinal blood vessels and nerve fibers, which can help detect many diseases much earlier in the process.

We want you to maintain your gift of sight, for as long as you live. Conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Thyroid Dysfunction, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, or even Obstructive Sleep Apnea can impact your vision and eye health. At times, optometrists are the first in your healthcare team to see signs of such diseases, manifesting in various structures of the eye. Our goal is for you to be proactive and care for your eyes.  We are happy to schedule a medical eye exam for you, with a sole focus on your eye health.

COMPUTER VISION SYNDROME

Also referred to as Digital Eye Strain, this condition results from prolonged use of a computer, tablet, cell phone, e-reader, and the like.  This is undoubtedly a modern diagnosis.  High visual demands of computers and screens make most of us susceptible to this condition, especially when uncorrected astigmatism and farsightedness are present.  Other contributing factors include glare from screens, poor posture, improper viewing distance, and poor lighting.  If you are experiencing persistent eye strain, headaches – especially towards the end of work day, dry eyes, or fluctuating vision, you may benefit from an optimized pair of computer lenses, made for your specific workspace and conditions.

OrthoKeratology (Ortho-K)

  • Are you tired of wearing prescription glasses or contact lenses, but are not quite ready for LASIK?
  • Are you unable to wear contact lenses due to dry eyes or allergy sensitivities?
  • Do you feel glasses or contact lenses inhibit your ability to enjoy certain activities, such as swimming, hiking, skiing, or sports?
  • Does your child’s prescription change significantly each year?
  • Does your child have trouble handling or wearing contact lenses?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, OrthoKeratology may be the solution for you. OrthoKeratology – also referred to as Ortho-K – is a revolutionary and non-surgical procedure that involves fitting specially designed contact lenses that temporarily reshape the cornea during sleep, which allows you to function without the need for glasses or contacts during the day. They are essentially similar to “dental braces”, but for the eyes.

These specific Ortho-K contact lenses are designed to be used at bedtime, and removed upon awakening. Dr. Page also utilizes Acuvue Abiliti by Johnson & Johnson, which are Ortho-K lenses that are FDA-approved for Myopia Control and Management in children. Please contact us for more information.

MYOPIA CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT

Generally known as near-sightedness, myopia is a common vision condition in which objects up close appear clear, but objects far away appear blurry. With higher myopia, there is an increased risk of conditions like retinal detachment, myopic macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Our goal with Myopia Control is to reduce these risks for all children with myopia by minimizing progression of this condition. Dr. Page uses the following three methods that have the highest rate of success among all treatment options.

1. OrthoKeratology – Dr. Page is a certified provider of the only current FDA-approved Ortho-K lenses Acuvue Abiliti for Myopia Control. These are specially designed contact lenses that are worn at bedtime and removed upon awakening. Ortho-K lenses work by slowly reshaping the cornea during sleep, to lessen the amount of myopia through the night, so that vision is clear the next day without the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses.

2. Soft Multifocal Contact Lenses – Dr. Page also utilizes the first and only FDA-approved soft contact lenses MiSight by Coopervision for Myopia Management in children. MiSight is a daily disposable contact lens that is safe and most effective on children ages 8 and older.

3. Eye Drops – If your child is not ready for Ortho-K or soft contact lenses, then atropine eye drop therapy may be the best option. Low-dose atropine eye drops, typically applied to both eyes at bedtime, have proven to slow the progression of myopia over time. These drops have no side effects for the majority of children.

Near-sighted kids who start one of these treatments will have less nearsightedness overall, and therefore, less risk of myopic ocular diseases. Dr. Page also recommends specific behavioral and lifestyle changes to assist with myopia control. Please contact us for more information.
